Deadly Shark Attack Prompts Egypt to Close Beaches

Authorities Ban Swimming Near Red Sea Resort

Egyptian authorities have banned swimming near a beach at an Egyptian Red Sea resort on Tuesday, after a deadly shark attack on Sunday. The victim, a 52-year-old Austrian tourist, was swimming near the shore when he was attacked by the shark. He died from his injuries at the scene.

Multiple Beaches Closed

The beach where the attack occurred has been closed, along with several other beaches in the area. The Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency (EEAA) has issued a warning to tourists, advising them to avoid swimming in the area until further notice. The EEAA is investigating the attack and trying to determine the species of shark that was involved.

Deadly Incidents Raise Concern

This is the second deadly shark attack in Egypt in recent months. In July, a German tourist was killed by a shark off the coast of Sharm el-Sheikh. The recent attacks have raised concerns about the safety of swimming in the Red Sea. However, experts say that shark attacks are rare and that the risk of being attacked is very low.

Tourists are advised to follow the safety instructions of the EEAA and to swim in designated areas only. They should also avoid swimming at dawn and dusk, when sharks are most active. If they see a shark, they should remain calm and swim slowly to shore.

Despite the recent attacks, the Red Sea remains a popular tourist destination. With its crystal-clear waters and vibrant coral reefs, it offers some of the best diving and snorkeling in the world.
